I experienced my first San Francisco event yesterday:
"Critical Mass."
The last Friday of every month
bikers from all over the city
congregate on Justin Herman Plaza
in front of the Ferry Building
on the Embarcadero.

At least 1,000 bikers participated.
Apparently, it started about 20 years ago
when cyclists in the city got fed up
with the road-hogging automobiles and protested
by getting together in a big group
and slowly riding their way
through the city.

Literally a traffic stopper.

How many times do you see a fish
with cd's for scales
swimming its way down Market Street?

How very San Francisco....
